Ocaquatics Swim School Celebrates 29 Years of Swim School Leadership

By February 10th, 2023No Comments

We are proud to celebrate Ocaquatics Swim School’s 29 years of leadership in the swim school industry. We remember all of the years as if it were yesterday.

We met Ocaquatics Swim School pioneer, Miren Oca, when she first leased a pool and started teaching classes. We were referred by the Facilities Director of the University of Miami, where we have been providing all the pumping, filtration, and water quality control equipment for their indoor learn to swim pool, and where Miren had also taught classes.

It didn’t take long to notice what a great industry the professional swim school is. There isn’t a nobler and more gratifying experience than teaching kids how to swim, saving a life, and birthing a life-long love of the water. And, looking back on these great 29 years, there is no one that does it better than Ocaquatics. They’ve always been the pioneers and the leaders, and if there was a better way of doing something, they invested.

It also didn’t take long to realize that swim school treatment is one of the most difficult applications around. We put it up there with major water parks. Why? With a tougher indoor pool environment, small pool sizes, minimal gallons to dilute organics, consistently heavy bather loads, and warm temperatures, you have to bring your A-game, and utilize the latest technologies. You have to protect your instructors, who are in the water for many hours a day, and make sure that there are NO eye or skin irritants that can scare away parents, kids, babies, and instructors alike.

Ocaquatics was also one of the pioneers of using UV, Ultraviolet treatment, and AFM® glass media, to assure maximum water safety for their patrons. They were also among the first to sign up for CES’s Q5® Water Quality Standard in 2011, our nationally certified prescriptive water quality rating system and road map for facility improvement. They not only rated as a 5-Star operation, but also further tweaked their systems as needed to reach maximum results when they saw there were things they might be able to do better. Then they turned their focus to sustainability, and were and still are industry leaders in doing more with fewer resources… one of CES’s core initiatives.

They used the same success formula on School #2, then #3, #4 and finally #5, and have continued to invest in making sure that everything stays in great working order in order to reduce down time. They meticulously schedule Preventive Maintenance on all major components, and are celebrating 15-year birthdays on major equipment… a great accomplishment.

Success is no accident. Ocaquatics isn’t lucky, they just work harder at it, and they thrive where preparation meets opportunity.

Please join us in congratulating Miren and her team on a fantastic job over the past 29 years, and cheer them on as they continue to pave the way for everyone to follow. Let us know if you need any additional information, or would like to schedule an expert site review to see what the next level could look like
